APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION HAVE NOW CLOSED. We are currently seeking a part-time freelancer for approximately one day per week during July, August, and September 2024. The role may continue beyond that if wished.
Role: Media and marketing manager
Salary and hours: £15 per hour, estimated at approximately 6 to 7 hours per week during July, August, and September 2024
The position is remote. However, being in the UK would be an advantage.
Main responsibilities would be:
- Setting up Facebook and Instagram adverts
- Posting every one or two days on a variety of social media platforms
- Communicating with reviewers and content creators on social media
- Setting up and maintaining other platforms (likely to be TikTok, although your expertise would be useful)
- Creating connections with non-gamer communities, specifically the education sector and the book/literature community
- Meeting regularly on zoom to update and advise the other two members of the team
- If time allows, contacting retailers in the UK, specifically independent bookshops
- If time allows, other activities as suggested by you
This role is supporting the launch of a Library Labyrinth Kickstarter in early September. The Kickstarter is for both a new card game and a reprint of the original game.

Experience is useful. However, that might come in many different forms. If you are familiar with different forms of social media, willing to break your time into small chunks, and able to help us strengthen and expand our online community, then we’d like to hear from you.
This role will NOT involve managing the Kickstarter, game development, or manufacturing logistics. Those parts of the project are already in place.
This is a contractor or freelance position, so you will need to either be registered self-employed or be paid through a limited company. At this time we aren’t able to enter an employment relationship. If the Kickstarter does well, we may wish to enter a longer term arrangement, but there is no obligation on you to continue beyond September.
We would particularly welcome applications from the Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) community and disabled candidates.
Apply by sending a CV and a covering letter* to Jess at dissentgames@gmail.com by 23:59 (UK time) on Thursday 20 June.
Shortlisting is 21 June, and interviews by zoom the week starting 24 June.
(* We recommend the letter is between 300 and 1000 words. Brevity might be rewarded, although obviously do try to tell us what you feel is relevant. Say why you think you’re a great fit for this role!)
